Where can kids play futsal in Newcastle?
Nomads offers futsal programs for boys and girls from 5 to 17 years old and for all levels. Our philosophy is “As many as possible, as long as possible” because we don’t do trials or release players, but we give players that want to progress the opportunity to train more.
Nomads Origins
Nomads Origins is our entry-level futsal program for younger players.
Origins is designed to introduce children to futsal in a fun, structured club environment, with an emphasis on developing confidence, technique and an understanding of the game.
Players learn the fundamentals of futsal through age appropriate training, with particular focus on 1v1, 2v2 and 3v3.
It’s suitable for children who are completely new to sport.
Nomads Academy
Older junior players can join the Newcastle Nomads Academy.
The Academy provides regular futsal training with a greater focus on individual development, game understanding and the specific technical and tactical skills required in futsal.
Players can develop within the club and progress towards competitive Nomads teams.
Is there competitive junior futsal in Newcastle?
Yes.
Newcastle Nomads fields junior teams across boys’ and girls’ age groups, giving players the opportunity to train regularly and represent the club in futsal competitions, tournaments and events.
We have entered the brand new NNSWF Futsal Championship and will enter and support any competitions in northern NSW and Australia, ran or sanctioned by FA and NNSWF.
Our aim is to create a genuine futsal pathway in Newcastle, where a player can start the sport as a young child and continue progressing through junior and youth futsal towards senior competition.
Players can register their interest in joining Newcastle Nomads even if they have never played futsal before.
Where can adults play futsal in Newcastle?
There are opportunities for both competitive and social adult futsal in Newcastle.
Newcastle Nomads is developing senior men’s and women’s teams for players who want to train and compete in a club environment.
For players looking for something more casual, social futsal provides an opportunity to play regularly without the commitment of representative or competitive club futsal. We currently play on Tuesdays at Sports Parc in the new futsal league.

Can football players play futsal in the off-season?
Absolutely.
Futsal is particularly popular with football players because of the number of touches, decisions and one-on-one situations players experience.
The smaller court and reduced space encourage players to receive under pressure, combine quickly, defend one-on-one and become comfortable with the ball.
Players don’t have to choose between football and futsal. Many players use futsal alongside their outdoor football development or as their main summer sport.
What if I’ve never played futsal before?
You can still join.
You don’t need previous futsal experience to get started with Newcastle Nomads.
We welcome players who are completely new to the sport, football players trying futsal for the first time and experienced futsal players looking for a club in Newcastle.
The best program depends on your age and what you’re looking for, whether that’s learning the game, developing as a player, joining a competitive team or simply playing socially.
Is futsal available for girls and women in Newcastle?
Yes.
Newcastle Nomads is committed to providing dedicated opportunities for girls and women to play futsal in Newcastle.
Girls can join our development programs and competitive teams, with a pathway towards senior women’s futsal.
We’re building both the men’s and women’s sides of the club so that young players can see a pathway from junior futsal all the way through to senior competition.
